LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY: PRE ARRIVAL TIPS FOR NATIONAL STUDENTS

• Packing is an Art, what we have learned after 6 years of experience from and to Lpu. Packing too many stuff will not only make you to pay you more (excess luggage charges), but may also creates difficulties in luggage handling.
• If you guys are coming by train then, university located near Meheru, but very few trains stops there. So, get down at Jalandhar Cantt. or Phagwara and take bus or Auto to LPU. We prefer Taxi for Sure or ola, these are the cheap options are available there and costs less than autos.
• Avoid bring electrical appliances like heaters, electric kettles, hair dryers, inductions, VCRs, Steam iron, etc. as these things are banned inside LPU hostels. But people use in some of the hostels, which is followed by heavy fine, class suspension.
• LPU hostels will provide only wooden/steel cot, you have to buys all other stuffs like Pillow, Mattresses, Bed covers, Pillow covers and all. Maximum of these stuffs are available in the university mall (Yes, LPU is having a dedication mall for students) under Home and House-Keeping. Discounts are pretty good but I will Prefer to get some pillow covers and bed sheets for home.
• Temperature ranges between 35-45 degree celsius during the summer and 5-20 degree celsius during the winters. Here, the winter season starts around October or November, so the warm material (blankets,quilts, woolens,etc) are required.
• If you are on any kind of medication, carry along the doctor's prescriptions and medicines, as health care department is very suspicions on outside medicines and some specific medicines are available only at specific locations in the city(Jalandhar).
• Perform a general medical check-up before leaving, sometimes students gets dust allergies and others (Very common) due to change in climate and weather. The place is dusty during the harvest season.
• If you are not budget constrained, then go for the AC rooms. Its will give better comfort and hindrance free studing.(There are others cheap hostel options available check my other posts.
• Physically challenged students, intimate the management about your date of arrival as ambulances are available for transport purpose.
• Laptops are cheaper in Punjab, so we recommend you to buys laptops from here. And other e-Com (Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal etc.) options are also available, university pin code is available on COD list.
• These are around 16 Atm(s) and 3 banks inside the university, so no need to keep high amount cash with you, unless you don't have proper banking facilities like (ATM Cards/Cheques/Credit Cards).
• Living expenses is medium, but varies from person to person, we will be writing another dedicated post for Living Expenses.
• After arriving at the University, go straight to the CAD (Counselling and admission Department), they will direct you to the desired location. Make sure that you take along all the fee slips and university admission letter before arriving to the university.
